• Claude 3 is a family of models with increased capabilities in analysis and forecasting, and enhanced performance on specific benchmarks.

• Claude 3 is Anthropic’s first multimodal GenAI, capable of analyzing text as well as images, including photos, charts, graphs, and technical diagrams.

• Unlike some GenAI rivals, Claude 3 can analyze multiple images in a single request, allowing it to compare and contrast images.

• However, there are limits to Claude 3’s image processing. It cannot identify people, struggles with low-quality images and tasks involving spatial reasoning, and cannot give exact counts of objects in images.

• Claude 3 is strictly for image analysis and does not generate artwork.

• Customers can expect Claude 3 to better follow multi-step instructions, produce structured output in formats like JSON, and converse in languages other than English compared to its predecessors.

• Claude 3 has an expanded context window, initially supporting a 200,000-token context window, with select customers getting up to a 1-million-token context window.

• Despite its upgrades, Claude 3 isn’t immune from issues plaguing other GenAI models, such as bias and hallucinations. It can’t search the web and is not as fluent in certain “low-resource” languages versus English.
